LAHORE - The Anti-Corruption Establishment (ACE) authorities on Wednesday claimed to have arrested red handed the Nankana deputy drug controller while taking bribes of Rs 15,000.
The ACE said spokesman said that Akbar Ali, the owner of a medical store at Mangtanwala, lodged a complaint with the Anti-Corruption director that the deputy drug controller was demanding Rs 20,000 from him, failing which he would face cancellation of his drug licence.
The ACE director formed a raiding team to arrest the accused red handed. The team arrested Nankana Deputy Drug Controller Ilyas Anwar Shakir when he was receiving Rs 15,000 from the complainant.
Two other officials, Junior Clerk Fayaz Ahmad and Naib Qasid Gulfam who received Rs 1,000 each, were also arrested.
The raiding team recovered the ill-gotten amount from the possession of the accused and registered a case against them. Further investigation is underway.
THREE ARRESTED FOR KIDNAPPING, ROBBERIES: CIA Allama Iqbal Town police on Wednesday claimed to have arrested three accused allegedly involved in kidnappings and robberies.
A police spokesman said the CIA also recovered valuables and weapons worth millions of rupees from their possession. The accused kidnapped one Waleed Irshad and received ransom of Rs 200,000 a few days back. A raiding team was constituted by the CIA SP, headed by DSP Riaz Shah. The team arrested Jamil alias Lada, the ringleader of Lada Dacoit Gang, and his two accomplices, Muneer Ahmad and Muhammad Afzal alias Judgee. The g team also recovered six laptops, two motorcycles, mobile phones, cash and illegal weapons from their possession. Cases were traced by Green Town police, Gulshan-e-Iqbal, Muslim Town and Wahdat Colony police stations.
