8.5 million-acre agricultural land affected in Punjab: Shahbaz

Chief Minister Punjab Mian Shahbaz Sharif said that approximately 8.5 million-acre agriculture area has been affected owing to floods in Punjab including standing crops of sugarcane, cotton and millets. According to details a high level meeting on flood situation was held here on Friday in heading of PML-N chief Mian Nawaz Sharif and Chief Minister Punjab Shahbaz Sharif apprised the meeting that 8.5 million-acre agricultural lands have been affected in flood wreckages across the province that included also standing crops of sugarcane, cotton and millets. Chief Minister Punjab also informed the meeting that the Punjab Government has been assessing the damages of flood devastations for crops and strategies were being designed to compensate the damages of flood affected people adding that the government would also provide assistance for next crops in the flood-hit areas. While PML-N chief Mian Shahbaz Sharif urged Punjab Government to fully cooperate with the flood victims of the province and emphasized to utilize all available resources to ensure monetary compensation and assistance for flood affectees.
