Speakers appreciate LUMS 25-year success

LAHORE We are promoting a research vision aimed at critical national needs including energy, education, water, health care, good governance, and rule of law, security and social justice. Lahore University of Management Sciences Vice Chancellor Dr Ahmad Jan Durrani said this on Wednesday while addressing a ceremony held in connection with celebrating 25th anniversary of the varsity and inauguration of the School of Science and Engineering at LUMS. LUMS Pro-Chancellor Syed Babir Ali, Rector Abdul Razak Dawood, Members of SSE Advisory Board Dr Robert Jaffe and Dr Richard Larson with other guests were also present on the occasion. They pledged to continue the journey towards the nation-building with the 'generous support of the donors, researchers, scientists and LUMS graduates. Mr Syed Babir and Mr Abdul Razak in their addresses thanked the business community. They said: LUMS has been committed to merit, tolerance and diversity. While urging the students to work for the development of the country, Mr Larson quoted famous speech of the US former President John F Kennedy: Ask not what your country can do for you - ask what you can do for your country. All other speakers also showed their satisfaction over the 25 years success story of the LUMS. They said the varsity was serving regardless of social, economic and ethnic issues.
