Raids on for road rage drivers

OUR STAFF REPORTER LAHORE Police were raiding on Sunday to arrest the drivers of two urban buses following the death of a Christian couple in a road rage near the Jail Road underpass on Saturday. The deceased were identified as Saleem Masih and his wife Nusrat Bibi. The residents of Basir Lines, Mughalpura, were on a bicycle and were heading their workplace in Shah Jammal, when one of the rashly-driven passenger bus of Route No 22 crushed them. Both the buses belonged to the same company. One of the two buses tried to overtake the other. As a result, the couple came under its wheels and was crushed, the police investigating the case said. The wounded woman died while being shifted to a hospital, while her husband was pronounced as dead upon arrival at the Emergency Ward of the Services Hospital, they added. Civil Lines SP (Operations) Umer Saeed Malik said that the buses -- LRC-3723 and LRC-5626 -- have been impounded. An FIR (407/11) under section 322/427 and 34 of the PPC has been lodged against both the drivers, he added. No arrest was, however, made till the filling of this report. body sent home: The body of an electrician who was electrocuted on Saturday was sent to his hometown of Okara on Sunday. The father-of-four Riaz, aged about 35 years, was electrocuted in the Johar Town police area on Saturday. The police investigating the case said that Riaz was repairing an electric water machine at the house of one Amjad Hussain, when his hand touched the live wire.
