Shahbaz reviews metro bus project


LAHORE – Punjab Chief Minister Shahbaz Sharif inspected various routes of Metro Bus Project, on early Friday, and later, presided over a high-level meeting to review pace of construction work of the project at Minar-e-Pakistan camp office.
During the meeting, the CM directed the concerned authorities to complete the Metro Bus Project within the stipulated time, at all costs.
Shahbaz said the temporary difficulties being faced by the people would soon be turned into permanent relief after the project will be completed. He said metro bus project is not just a project, but the mission of public service, and he considers himself as its Chief Manager who is repeatedly inspecting to ensure quick completion of the project.
Chairman Lahore Transport Company Khawaja Ahmad Hasaan, Member Provincial Assembly Mehr Ishtiaq, Project Director Metro Bus, Commissioner Lahore Division, Director General LDA, Chief Traffic Officer and contractors working at different sections of the project were also present on the occasion.
DG LDA gave the Chief Minister a detailed briefing regarding construction work related to the project.
The said the pace of construction work is satisfactory however it can be accelerated through coordinated efforts, in order to complete the project well within time. He said alternative traffic arrangements have been made, on the routes of under construction project, for the convenience of the people. He said it is heaterning that the contractors would continue their work, even during Eid holidays
 He also appreciated Chief Traffic Officer for making good traffic arrangements. He said shifting of construction material to the site must be expedited, while sheds for buses should also be constructed in order to ensure provision of all kind of facilities at metro bus depot. Punjab Chief Minister directed that a report be submitted to him regarding comprehensive planning for quick construction of elevated stations, while all construction work should be completed during the stipulated period.
Also, Shahbaz Sharif while greeting Eid-ul-Azha to the nation has said that the auspicious day, is an occasion to renew our pledge for dedicating the life to the service of humanity. He said Eid-ul-Azha is a great day which reminds us of the unparalleled sacrifice of Hazrat Ibrahim (AS), who was prepared to sacrifice even his son Hazrat Ismail (AS) for the will and blessings of Allah Almighty.
He said following in the footsteps of Hazrat Ibrahim(AS), the Muslims all over the world sacrifice animals on the occasion of Eid-ul-Azha. He said that Islam gives us the lesson of peace, sacrifice and helping the poor segment of the society. He said on this day of happiness, we should not forget the poor and helpless and should fulfill our religious and moral obligation of sharing our Eid joys with them.
Shahbaz Sharif further said that Pakistan has a greater need of national unity, solidarity and harmony today than any other phase of its history. He said that time has come for all of us to unite, by sinking our petty differences, and fight against those forces which are out to damage Pakistan. He appealed to the nation to offer special prayers for the solidarity, integrity and prosperity of the country, along with pledging to play their role in the progress and prosperity of the nation, with a spirit of patriotism.
He said today we should review our shortcomings and, by reforming ourselves, should work for the progress and prosperity of the country with a new passion and courage. The CM said that following the golden principles of Islam, we can transform our society based on justice, equality, humanism and brotherhood.
He said that Punjab government is making sincere efforts to establish an Islamic welfare society as Punjab government is following such development programmes with a passion to service the people which are aimed at progress, prosperity, welfare and wellbeing of the common man.
