5,469 accused arrested

LAHORE – City police on Tuesday claimed that at least 5469 accused were arrested during its campaign against illegal weapons during the first 11 months of this year.
According to a police spokesman, the police had launched a special campaign against illegal weapons during which 5,455 cases were registered while the police also recovered 56 kalashnikovs, 254 rifles, 622 guns, 335 revolvers, 4593 pistols, 49 carbines, 73 daggers, and more than 122,360 bullets from the accused. Ahmad Raza Tahir has directed the police to speed up crackdown launched against illegal weapons in order to rid the city of crime and criminal elements. He further claimed that the every officer of Lahore Police should be determined to face crime-related challenges at all time.
