Tributes paid to BB

LAHORE - Different PPP cadres and associations organized ceremonies and candle vigil in the City to mark 4th death anniversary of Benazir Bhutto on Tuesday.
Begum Governor Musarrat Latif Khosa arranged a prayer meeting at Governor House which was attended by female activists of the PPP. Quran Khawani was also held for the departed soul of Benazir Bhutto. Musarrat paid tributes to the slain party chairperson for her democratic struggle and sacrifices rendered for the country. “Had she been alive, the country would not have been facing the current crises,” she observed, adding that PPP was the legacy of Bhutto family which had nourished the party with its blood.  
An event of Quran Khawani in this connection was held at the residence of member Federal Council and former MPA Dr Zia Ullah Khan Bangash.
According to a press release, the event was attended by members of Federal Council including Atlaf Qureshi, Abdul Qadir Shaheen and a large number of party members.
Speaking on the occasion, Altaf Qureshi said that Benazir Bhutto returned to Pakistan to liberate the country from the clutches of a dictator despite serious threats to her life. He said Benazir Bhutto was the symbol of federation and her absence from the political scene was a big loss to the country.
Dr Zia Ullah Khan Bangash said that the PPP had a history of struggle and sacrifices against anti-democratic forces and would continue its mission in future also. He said present conspiracies would not affect ideology of Bhuttos which shall remain alive in the hearts of PPP jialas. 
A similar event was held in the office of Chairman Evacuee Trust Property Board, Syed Asif Hashmi to remember Benazir Bhutto on the occasion of her 4th death anniversary. Hashmi said that the vacuum created by BB’s death would never be filled. He was of the view that country’s political scenario would have been much different had she been alive in present time.
Meanwhile, PPP parliamentarians belonging to party’s minority wing held a candle vigil outside Governor House on Tuesday evening. PPP MPA Pervaiz Rafique had organised the event to mark the day. Peoples Unity, an association of PIA employees, also held Quran Khawani and prayer at PIA office on Edgerton Road in connection with BB’s death anniversary.
