Monsoon likely to start early

LAHORE - The monsoon is likely to set in early this year. A fresh monsoon system from Bay of Bengal will hit parts of Pakistan as a first incursion of monsoon from June 30. Usually the monsoon forecast season begins from July 1 but the rain will start early. The monsoon currents will be strengthened by westerly winds from Arabian Sea to cause considerable rain. Meanwhile a strong wind/thunderstorm lashed the City on Sunday evening, lowering the temperature to a considerable extent. The windstorm blew at the speed of 65 km per hour around 6:00 pm, which followed by thick black clouds. However, it did not cause any rain in City but in Gujranwala. Earlier the Met office recorded 43 degree centigrade maximum temperature in Lahore on Sunday. The minimum also sharply rose to 30 degree with increased humidity in the morning turning the weather extremely hot and humid.
