JI flays massacre of Myanmar Muslims

LAHORE – Jamaat-e-Islami Ameer Syed Munawar Hasan has appealed to the nation for observing protest day today (Friday) against massacre of Muslims in Arakan, Myanmar.
In a statement issued on Wednesday, he said that thousands of Muslims in Arakan had been killed during last few weeks but the world community was maintaining a criminal silence. He said that millions of people would like to migrate to Bangladesh but all borders had been closed to them. Their habitations and huts had been torched and thousands of them had been put to death.
He said the United Nations had termed the Arakan Muslims the most oppressed DPs but it had not taken relief measures. He said the world media had also shut its eyes to this genocide of Muslims. There had been no protest by the Pakistan government while the so called champions of human rights were least bothered. He urged the OIC Secretary General and the UN to take immediate steps for the security of Myanmar Muslims.
Meanwhile, JI Secretary General Liaquat Baloch has said that responsibility for killings of Pakistani troops and security personnel in Upper Dir lay with the US and the Nato forces.
Talking to the Hizbul Mujahideen deputy chief Maulana Javed Qasuri on Wednesday, he said that the US had not apologised for the Silala attack.
