Rape accused escapes police custody

LAHORE - An accused of raping a mentally sick girl successfully escaped the police custody with the help of his counsel when the Lahore High Court single bench dismissed his bail application on Friday. Sarfraz, a resident of Chiniot, had filed a bail application through Advocate Rab Nawaz and denied the charges of rape. The petitioner said that he did not rape and the police intentionally implicated him in the case on behest of the complainant party.  However, Chiniot police investigating officer produced sufficient evidences and medical which established that the suspect raped the girl. He opposed the bail petition.  After hearing arguments, Justice Shahid Hameed Dar dismissed the petition. However, police failed to arrest the suspect as the counsel along with other associates helped him run away from the court’s premises.
