LAHORE - Punjab Chief Minister Muhammad Shahbaz Sharif has said that Germany has made tremendous, rapid progress in a very short period and its speedy development has become an example for the world.
According to a handout of the Punjab government, the chief minister said that the prime objective of his visit to Germany was to promote cooperation in energy, infrastructure, textile and other sectors with Pakistan, particularly with Punjab. He said that strong economic relations have been developed between Pakistan and Germany during the tenure of PML-N government and these ties would further strengthen in the corning days.
He said that Pakistan wants to benefit from the wonderful development, experience and expertise of Germany.
He was talking to media after arriving in Berlin on a three-day visit to Germany. When Chief Minister Muhammad Shahbaz Sharif arrived at Berlin airport, a large number of Pakistanis welcomed him and chanted slogans, Pakistan Zindabad, Chief Minister Muhammad Shahbaz Sharif Zindabad.
Those who welcomed the chief minister included Coordinator for Energy, Shahid Riaz Gondal and Ambassador of Pakistan to Germany Abdul Basit. The chief minister is leading an important delegation of Pakistan to the Business Forum in Germany.
Talking to mediamen at the airport, Shahbaz Sharif said that the sacrifices made by the German nation for development are a memorable chapter of the history. He said that all privileged segments of society will have to give sacrifice for putting Pakistan on the road to progress and prosperity. He said that politicians, bureaucracy, landlords, farmers and other privileged class will have to change their lifestyle for saving Pakistan and all have to work together for ameliorating the lot of a common man and making the country economically strong. The chief minister said that the people of Pakistan are hard working and capable. He said that the people have been rendering sacrifices for the last 66 years and now the elite class has to make beginning so that the country could be transformed in accordance with the dreams of Quaid-e-Azam and Allama Iqbal in the real sense.
Replying to a question, Shahbaz Sharif said that complete protection would be provided to German investors for their investments in Punjab. He said that the government is aware of the importance of the challenge of terrorism and a special force is being constituted for eradication of terrorism and an anti-terrorism policy is also being evolved in this regard. The chief minister said that talks would be held with German investors on energy, infrastructure, textile and other important matters during his visit to Germany.
