LDA starts compensating property owners


LAHORE – The Lahore Development Authority (LDA) has started payment of compensation to the ex-owners whose properties have been acquired for construction of the Bus Rapid Transit System (BRTS).
This payment is being made at the rate determined by the District Price Assessment Committee and an amount of Rs1.8 billion has already been released to the land acquisition collector for this purpose.
Ex-owners of the properties situated from Ichhra to Bhatti Gate are being compensated in the first phase and an amount of Rs85.41 million has so far been disbursed among the 39 ex-owners of 17 kanals, 8 marlas and 150 square feet land along this route.
Other owners of the acquired properties have been asked to contact the LDA land acquisition collector along with their ownership documents.
Lahore District Coordination Officer (DCO) Noor-ul-Amin Mengal said on Friday to protect the life of citizens was the topmost responsibility of the CDGL administration and its officers were performing their duties in this regard.
He expressed these views while paying a visit to the Mochi Gate locality for inspecting the 13 dilapidated houses. EDO (Works and Services) Assistant Commissioner Saira Umer and other officials concerned were present on the occasion.
The Lahore DCO said the 13 dilapidated houses would be repaired so that any untoward incident could be avoided. He also constituted a committee comprising area residents that would decide about the repair of these houses.
The DCO disclosed that these houses would be repaired under the Walled City Project, while two houses in worst condition would be soon demolished. Mengal further revealed that 4,000 notices of repair had already been served to the owners of dilapidated houses located in different parts of the City.
LEAVE SANCTIONED: Also, the LDA has sanctioned ex-Pakistan leave in favour of two officers, namely Muhammad Iqbal Mazhar, Director Estate Management (QAT), and Naveed Ahmad Bhatti, Deputy Director (Metropolitan Planning), for proceeding to Saudi Arabia to perform Haj.
Khawaja Javed Aslam Sahaf, Director Enforcement, has been entrusted the additional charge of the post of Director Estate Management (QAT) for the leave period of Muhammad Iqbal Mazhar.
