CM directs for foolproof security on Eid

LAHORE Punjab Chief Minister Muhammad Shahbaz Sharif presided over a meeting with regard to reviewing law and order situation and the security arrangements on the occasion of Eid-ul-Fitr. Minister Law Rana Sanaullah Khan, MPA Khawaja Salman Rafique, Inspector General Police Javed Iqbal, Home Secretary, Additional I.G. Special Branch, Capital City Police Officer, Commissioner Lahore and officers concerned attended the meeting. The IGP gave a briefing regarding law and order situation and the security arrangements made on the occasion of Eid-ul-Fitr. Addressing the meeting, Muhammad Shahbaz Sharif directed that fool-proof security arrangements should be made throughout the province on the occasion of Eid-ul-Fitr and police should remain fully alert for maintaining law and order and protecting the life and property of the people. Additional force should be deployed on big trade and shopping centres, Eid gahs, mosques, Imam Bargahs and recreational places and police patrolling system should be made more affective, he added. He further directed that no effort should be spared for maintaining law and order and protecting the life and property of the people on Eid. Senior police officers should remain in the filed and ensure implementation of security plan evolved for this purpose throughout the province, he said, adding that maximum utilisation of walk-through gates and metal detectors should be ensured on all important places including Eid gahs, mosques and Imam bargahs. A vigilant eye should be kept on mischievous elements and police and law enforcement agencies should ensure close liaison with each other in this regard. We have to maintain the atmosphere of brotherhood and religious harmony at all cost.
