Lawyers protest kidnapping of their colleague in Quetta

QUETTA - Lawyers on Tuesday boycotted courts proceedings and staged a sit-in outside Balochistan Assembly against kidnapping of senior lawyer Iftikharul Haq Advocate and delay in his recovery. Aftikharul Haq Advocate was abducted on March 19 from Quetta. Lawyers boycotted courts and took out a protest rally towards Balochistan Assembly where they staged a sit-in. They were chanting slogans against government and demanding immediate recovery of abductee. Ali Ahmed Kurad, former president of SCBA, Baz Mohammad Kakar, the president Balochistan Bar Association and Amanullah Kanrani, vice president of SCBA criticised the government for not making efforts for the recovery of Iftikhar Advocate. They regretted that the govt had failed to get Advocate Iftikharul Haq freed despite a lapse of 11 days and added they would continue their struggle till recovery of abductee and would not hesitate to close Shara-e-Dastor in Islamabad. On this occasion, state minister Ayatullah Durrani assured them that every possible step would be taken for the recovery of Iftikharul Haq Advocate. He said the government had taken up this issue seriously, and added that it was the responsibility of law enforcement agencies to ensure security of citizens. He said that he would convey their protest to federal government.
