EPI to be launched from 9th in Punjab

LAHORE -  Advisor to Punjab Chief Minister on Health Kh Salman Rafique has said that under prevention of diseases programme, special drive of Extended Programme of Immunization (EPI) would be launched in Punjab from June 9 which would continue for three weeks.
He said this while presiding over a meeting to review the arrangements for EPI special drive and anti-measles campaign in September 2014, at DG Health Office on Friday.
Director General Health Dr Zahid Pervaiz, representative of Unicef Dr Mushtaq Rana, Director Health (EPI) Dr Munir Ahmed, EDO Health Lahore Dr Zulfiqar Ali, Director Finance Tanvir Baig and other officers attended the meeting. 
Kh Salman Rafique said that during EPI drive vaccination teams of Health Department would reach at mohallah level and stay at prominent place to vaccinate the children. He said that the announcements regarding arrival of vaccination teams would be made through mosques to inform the general public. He further said that EPI drive would be continued at least for three weeks.
He said that during the EPI campaign children from the age of one day to two years would be given injections for prevention from nine diseases.
The meeting was informed that according to the recommendations of medical experts, anti-measles campaign would be launched in September this year in Punjab for which arrangements are being made.
