Report sought on labour issues

LAHORE – National Industrial Relations Commission (NIRC) Chairman Justice (r) Raja Fayyaz Ahmad has sought a detailed report on the labour issues raised by the Pakistan Workers Confederation (PWC).
The issues were presented before the commission requesting to ask the government to get fulfilled its constitutional obligations.
The issues had been raised by PWC General Secretary Khursheed Ahmed. He pointed out that a number of workmen including owner of factory had been burnt to death because of lack of safety measures which was extremely dreadful.
He also submitted that undoubtedly in view of the 18th constitutional amendment the responsibility for ensuring due application of law had developed upon the provinces, yet the federal government could not be absolved of its legal obligations.
