A private television channel is telecasting country’s biggest singing reality show titled ‘Pakistan Idol’. The channel claims that the show meets the international standards but the judges in the show seem to be comedians rather than judges. This interactive reality television music competition is based on an international format created by a British producer Simon Cowell and has been adapted in over forty six countries round the world. Keeping in view the magnanimity of the show the judges must be competent enough to ascertain ones singing ability and professionalism.
One of the judges is Bushra Ansari, who is undoubtedly a great actress and comedian but she is not a singer, how can she know the scales and range of the voice as she does not have any solid music back ground? She is just on the show to ridicule the contestants. Another judge is Mr Ali Azmat, the Sufi rock icon but he also does not fall under the category of Teachers of music. He is only adding a funny aspect to the show by his weird body movement and facial expressions. The third judge is Hadiqa Kiyani, as we all know that now a days she is into so many other businesses and music seems to be her last priority she is selling her looks on the show.
It leaves the viewers in consternation why the singers like Rahat Fateh Ali Khan, Rustam Fateh Ali Khan, Shafqat Amanat Ali Khan, Ghulam Ali and Sajjad Ali have not been made judges of the show who belongs to the musical old families of our country and know music?
