Strange phraseology

This is with reference to the discussion of Marvi Memon, an PML-Q MNA aired on one of the private TV channels January 17, 2011 about the recent wave of target killings in Karachi. In her discussion, she rightly opined that we all treat Karachi as a separate entity from the Sindh province as if it was not the part of the same. She was very much accurate in her views that Karachi is not only a part of Sindh but also a capital of the province. She questioned why we tend to say Karachi and in Sindh knowing the very basic fact that Karachi is an integral part of Sindh. While fully agreeing with the above views of Marvi Memon, I would also like to add here that I also feel hurt and aggrieved when my ears hear Karachi and in Sindh from the mouths of so-called educated analysts and politicians. This reflects two things: Either those who utter such sentences lack basic general knowledge about Sindh and its cities or such sentences are emphasized to infuriate a particular ethnic group of the province. Do our leaders say Lahore and in Punjab, Peshawar and in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa and Quetta and in Balochistan? We all must know that Karachi is a part of Sindh besides being capital of it. So my humble request to everyone is to avoid saying Karachi and in Sindh in future for it hurts the feelings of all those who love Sindh and all its cities irrespective of the fact as to number of ethnic group living there.
