Descent into chaos

Chaos prevails on capital citys roads when it is time for parents to pick their children up from schools and colleges in the morning and afternoon. The mess creates numerous difficulties for motorists, who instead of quickly dropping their children and rushing back to their respective workplaces end up spending hours in the snarled up traffic. The Islamabad Traffic Police (ITP) has taken some effective measures to control traffic jams like deputing cops at all intersections and roads of the city, increasing the distance between U-turns and imposing fines on those who disobey traffic rules. However there is always room for improvement. The roads close to academic institutions present the worst picture of traffic mess and it is next to impossible for motorists to reach their destinations on time. The sharp increase in car-financing offers by different banks for some years has led to a considerable increase in the number of vehicles on capital roads. It is a common sight outside educational institutions that one vehicle is used to pick and drop only one child, which not only contributes to an increase in road blockades but also increase fuel consumption, which directly or indirectly bears a negative impact on the countrys economy.
