A bridge fallen twice

A bridge over a small, unnamed stream in the neighborhood of a place called Mohra Noor on the east side of the Korrang River near Islamabad collapsed about five months back. It was the second time in two years that this bridge had collapsed, apparently due to poor workmanship and defective materials used in a less privileged area. It is indeed disquieting that in the past five months after the bridge caved in, the local government functionaries have yet to draw blueprints for reconstruction. The collapse of this bridge has practically blocked eastern approach to Mohra Noor, posing a serious impediment in the movement of goods and vehicles. The residents await urgent remedial measures by the local government under the umbrella of Chief Commisionarate, Islamabad. The photos are attached too. -IMRAN ALI Islamabad, via e-mail, May 11.
