According to constitution, no elected member of national assembly can take his seat until he has taken his oath. In this oath, every members swears that he will bear allegiance to Pakistan, perform his duties honestly and always in the interest of the sovereignty, integrity, solidarity, well being and prosperity of Pakistan and protect and defend the Constitution. Our current law makers took this oath and it is their duty and obligation to keep their oath.
On Tuesday the assembly members passed a unanimous resolution, vowing to play their roles for supremacy of constitution which seem nothing more than reiteration of their oath but an impression was given, as if the national assembly members had just done wonders. One wishes they would keep their promise, but I have not seen this happen before; like everything else these are just empty words.
