Unfair criticism

This is with reference to Mr. Sials tirade against Shah Mehmood Qureshi (January 25, 2011). The stand of Mr. Shah Mehmood Qureshi was absolutely justified in view of the fact that diplomatic immunity or no diplomatic immunity, there is no provision anywhere that anybody under the pretext of self-defence can shoot out ordinary citizens of the country. Mr. Sial has unnecessarily brought in two dead leaders. They both were great in their own way. Ayub Khan resigned in 1969. It is almost 42 years when he left the political scene. If he adorned military uniform at one stage of his life, that should not be a reason to discredit him for all his achievements. It is high time that we also learn the meanings of fascism and I dont want to name anyone Mr. Shah Mehmood Qureshis stance cannot by itself destabilize the government. The contention that by expressing his dissent, he is playing in the hands of a vested interest, is an unfair expression. Those who know him even as distantly as I do, know it very well that his genetic background will always enable him to call a spade a spade, and a rogue a rogue. PROF. KHALID HASSAN MAHMOOD, Karachi, February 25.
