This is in reference to a suggestion by Khursheed Shah, the leader of the opposition in the National Assembly regarding reducing the tenure of the government from five years to four years. I agree with his proposal; the tenure should be reduced. After two years of ascendancy, there should be an orientation held to conclude whether the government in power should be permitted to continue or whether it has become corrupt, inept and shown no results. In that case, they should all resign. This will ensure that elected leaders work hard and show results and good governance. Every ministry should show growth and transparent use of its allotted funds. A true democracy needs to be practiced in Pakistan. This is the first step to that destination.
