Special plane leaves Pakistan without Pervez Musharraf

Islamabad- A special plane which landed at the Islamabad from UAE late on Monday night, left the airport without former President General (retd) Pervez Musharraf who could not be allowed to leave Pakistan, sources reported today.

There were rumors yesterday that the plane has been sent by UAE, to fly Pervez Musharraf to Sharjah where his 95-year-old mother, Zarin Musharraf, is under treatment in W.Wilson Hospital and said to be critical. According to sources privy to the development, 70-year-old former president of Pakistan General (retd) Pervez Musharaf could not leave Pakistan since his name was not excluded from the Federal Interior Ministry’s Exit Control List (ECL).

The matter of Musharraf’s exit from Pakistan is in pending before the federal government which is likely to take a decision today. Defence Minister Khawaja Asif told local media that Musharraf would not be allowed to move abroad to visit his ailing mother. But he offered that the government could bring back Musharraf’s mother by air ambulance. Yesterday, a special court indicted the former military strongman for the imposition of emergency in late 2007 and other steps he took during his rule.
