RAWALPINDI - Several persons allegedly involved in Ashura violence in a seminary at Raja Bazaar, who are now on bail, have accused police of swallowing their cash, mobile phones, wristwatches, motorcycle, SIMs and other valuables.
They said that the police are not returning them all their belongings despite the court orders and have mentioned "Nil" on their applications they had filed with Gunjmani Police Station.
All these stuff was seized by police and other law enforcement agencies when these persons were arrested from various localities on suspicion last year. They demanded of Chief Justice Lahore High Court, District and Sessions Judge Rawalpindi and City Police Officer (CPO) to come forward and help them in getting their valuables back from police.
Syed Khawar Hussain Shah, a victim, while talking to The Nation on Monday, said that the police and other LEAs picked him up in connection with Ashura violence case from a bazaar last year and locked him behind the bars. He said that police also took Rs 42,000 from his pocket while conducting his body search before locking and submitted in Mall Khana as "case property". He alleged that now police are not returning him his amount.
"Though I provided Moharer Mall Khan PS Gunjmandi the court superdari orders yet he had refused to obey these court orders and not giving me my amount back," he added.
Syed Khawar appealed CJ LHC to provide him with justice as he was innocent and did nothing wrong.
