KARACHI - Muttahida Qaumi Movement on Tuesday came down hard on its arch rival Awami National Party, alleging that ANPs activists were involved in various street crimes and abduction of MQMs MPA near Old Sabzi Mandi. Addressing a press conference, MQM MPAs led by MPA Moin Aamir Pirzada said MQM MPA Aleem-ur-Rehman was abducted and detained by ANPs activists for couple of hours at their UC-2 office in Gulshan-e-Iqbal allegedly by armed ANP activists, while he was passing by the Main University Road near Old Sabzi Mandi on late Monday night. MQM lawmakers said that how peace could be restored if government failed to withdraw supporting what they called criminal elements of ANP. MQM MPAs alleged that ANP activists were sabotaging peace in the city while various areas including Old Sabzi Mandi, Gulistan-e-Jauhar, Empress Market, Pehalwan Goth and Kati Pahari are no-go zones.ANP men are also involved in various street crimes in these areas, they said.
