SWABI – Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf leaders and workers blocked all roads at Karnal Sher Khan Chowk junction while staging a protest demonstration against the excessive loadshedding here on Thursday.
The PTI leaders and workers gathered on Swabi-Jahangira road, Swabi-Topi road and Swabi-Mardan road. They reached to Karnal Sher Khan Chowk from all these three directions and the demonstration was converted into a public meeting at the chowk where the PTI leaders addressed the protesting people. PTI provincial leader, Asad Qaisar, district president Sohail Khan, PK-31 president Shah Wali and Yousaf Ali led the protesters.
During the two-hour protest all roads leading to Swabi general bus stand remained blocked. The protesters were chanting slogans against Peshawar Electric Supply Company and both Federal and Khyber Pakhtunkhwa governments, alleging that the all former and present ruling elites were responsible for the excessive loadshedding because instead of planning new dams they focused on accumulating wealth from the national exchequer under different pretexts.
Qaisar said that as the summer becoming harsh the hours of loadshedding have also been increasing. In contrast, he said the rulers receive uninterrupted power supply. “The ruling elites could not face any loadshedding and that is the reason that they could not pay any heed to the people’s repeated demand for a scheduled loadshedding.”
The rulers should share the pains of the masses but in the country they only knew to give push the people into hot water and put more extra-financial burden over them. One hand there was no electricity and its prices hike everyday on the other, he said. In an apparent hint to the Awami National Party Sohail questioned where have gone the leaders who raised full throat voices that they would bring electricity switch from Wapda House Lahore. “The real faces of the ruling privileged class have already been exposed. Our leader Imran Khan has vowed to bring revolutionary changes in the society,” he said.
