MULTAN - The members of All Pakistan Clerks Association (Apca) observed a complete pen-drop strike against non-acceptance of their charter of demands, price hike and comparatively low wages here on Wednesday. The Apca members in all departments staged protest demonstrations outside their offices. Holding placards and banners inscribed with their demands, they carried out non-stop sloganeering against government.
Earlier, the clerks locked up all offices as a result of which official work got disrupted.
Addressing the clerks, Apca Multan President Khalid Javed Sanghera and others said that skyrocketing prices of edibles and other daily-use items crushed salaried class. “It has become almost impossible for the worker class to make both ends together in their existing salaries,” they added.
They said that their families were starved but they could not feed them due to their poverty. They demanded of the government to announce raise in their salaries in proportion with the price hike. “Otherwise APCA will be forced to give a country-wide strike call,” they warned.
