Rawalpindi- Supply of water to the twin cities from Khanpur Dam has been suspended due to cut off of electricity to Sangjani filtration plant.
Rawalpindi Cantonment Board is a defaulter of Rs 3.3 million. The electricity supply to Sangjani Water filtration has been therefore cut off. On account of suspension of electricity the supply of water from Khanpur Dam to the twin cities has been suspended for the past 3 days. The water situation in Rawalpindi and Islamabad,  especially in the Cantt area, is already critical and now due to suspension of supply it has become worse. According to sources IESCO has refused to restore the power to Sangjani plant till the payment of outstanding dues.
