PPP continues political activities in President House

ISLAMABAD - Completely ignoring the direction of Lahore High Court and the verdict of Supreme Court of Pakistan in Asghar Khan Case, explicitly restricting President of Pakistan from leaning toward any particular political party, the leadership of Pakistan People’s Party is continuing political activities in Awan-e-Sadr.
Being the Co-Chairman of PPP, President Asif Ali Zardari is to look after the party affairs and to dispense with matters purely relating to his party and for that matter he has to frequently hold party meetings at Awan-e-Sadr, a source in party informed and added that how a party head could stay away from the party activities.
However, for quite sometime, the Central Executive Committee meeting was not held at Awan-e-Sadr by design or default and there was no official word from the media set-up at Awan-e-Sadr about the party meetings held there for time to time over the past few months.
A senior party leader on condition of anonymity informed that in future the President could call the ECE meeting of the party at Prime Minister’s House instead of Presidency while no one could question his meetings with heads of coalition partners or the party leaders and ministers as being the head of the Parliament he could meet with all of them.
A source in the party informed that the hawks in the party ranks were of the view that being a political figure, how he could dissociate himself from political activities, especially when he was a head of the major political party.
The source further said that the people who are opposing his political activities should have raised this issue at the time of his election to the office of President of Pakistan.
Sources in the party said that President would not cease his political activities at Awan-e-Sadr and in case of some adverse judgment against him from Lahore High Court the party would be challenging the judgment in apex court and would definitely stretch the matter till the next general elections.
Sources in the party said that as all the party activities were focused in Awan-e-Sadr so the party central secretariat in Federal Capital used to give a deserted look as no significant party leader used the venue for political activities.
