ISLAMABAD - People will get some relief in the prices of petroleum products during the month of November as the government has decided to slightly decrease the prices following reduction in global oil prices. Only the price of light diesel oil (LDO) will remain unchanged.
According to the decision, per litre price of petrol with a nominal decrease of 48 paisas will stand at Rs112.76 in November, high speed diesel (HSD) - which is widely used in heavy transport vehicles - after a decrease of 20 paisas, will be available at Rs116.75, Kerosene price after a cut of 13 paisas will be Rs108 and high octane blended component (HOBC) - used in luxury vehicles – with a decrease of Rs2.48 will be Rs143.23.
The government notified the new prices late Thursday after getting the approval of the prime minister. Official sources told this scribe that finance ministry has increased the share of petroleum levy (PL) imposed in the per litre price of petrol by Rs2/litre.
The government had increased the price of petroleum products by as much as 4 per cent for the outgoing month of October. As a result to that decision, petrol price had surged up to Rs113.25, HSD to Rs116.95, LDO Rs101.24, kerosene Rs108.13 and HOBC Rs143.90.
