LAKKI MARWAT - The district chapter of All Government Contractors Association has demanded of the Education Department to take notice of the closure of Government Higher Secondary School Landiwah and ensure its immediate reopening.
The teaching staff closed the school after a man, namely Mushtaq, manhandled the principal of the school. Condemning the incident, the teachers’ organisation has demanded of the police and district administration to arrest the culprits. In this context, a meeting was held at Tajazai District Headquarters Complex on Monday under the chair of Haji Muhammad Zaman in which the participants said that residents of the locality were deeply concerned over the closure of school as it was impacting the education of students. On the other hand, the contractors said that area elders have right to get information from the management of school about the Parent Teacher Council’s funds and absent teachers.
They said the government wants community participation in the affairs of state-run schools to ensure transparent utilisation of funds and attendance of teachers.
Association President Haji Zaman demanded of the local and higher authorities of Education Department to order probe into misappropriation of funds and charging extra admission fees from students by the school's administration. He also demanded of the authorities concerned to overcome the menace of absenteeism and ensure presence of teachers in the school.
