Govt making serious efforts to eliminate scourge of terrorism: Malik

Interior Minister Rehman Malik has said the government is making serious efforts to eliminate terrorism.
Inaugurating a passport office in Renala Khurd Sunday‚ he said Karachi and Quetta are being targeted to destabilize Pakistan. He called for joint efforts to root out terrorism and extremism.
Interior Minister said the federal government will extend full cooperation to the Punjab government if it decides to launch an operation against outlawed organizations.
He said in order to curb the use of mobile phones for terrorism and other crimes‚ the sale of SIMs to unscrupulous persons or at shops has been prohibited. All mobile companies will install Biometrics System in three months.
Rehman Malik said extremist leaders Waliur Rehman‚ Mullah Nazir and Hakimullah Mehsud have been critically wounded.
To a question‚ he said elections will be held on time.
The Interior Minister also inaugurated the machine readable passport issuance and visa service office at Renala Khurd on Sunday.
The Minister of State for Information and Broadcasting‚ Syed Sumsam Ali Bukhari and local PPP leaders were also present.
