ISLAMABAD - National Accountability Bureau has arrested Tanveer Hussain Manji, director Vita Pakistan Ltd, on charges of his alleged involvement for causing millions of rupees loss to the national kitty in Tawana Pakistan Project scam.Tawana Pakistan Project was the venture of the defunct ministry of social welfare that was launched to meet the food deficiencies of the school-going children belonging to poor and deprived areas. According to the bureau, the accused caused a loss of Rs 160m approximately to the public exchequer in Tawana Pakistan Project in the award of contract of milk to M/s EM-5 Nutraceutical Pvt Ltd. In the mega corruption scam, the contract of providing grain to M/S Vita Pakistan Limited and M/S Chen Foundation was also awarded out of the way while violating rules.Chairman NAB Admiral (Retd) Fasih Bokhari had issued the arrest warrant of the accused Tanveer Hussain Manji, Director Vita Pakistan Ltd. The accused was arrested on Thursday from Lahore and here on Friday, he was produced before the accountability court.
