GUJRANWALA - Young doctors on Tuesday raided the office of MS Civil Hospital, broke the windowpanes and threatened to stage a massive protest if their demands were not meet. Reportedly, young doctors under the local YDA leadership raided the office of Civil Hospital MS Dr Anwar and broke the windowpane of the office, demanding renewal of their contracts along with other demands. The YDA officials chanted slogans against the Health Department authorities. Doctors from the Pakistan Medical Association (PMA) and the AC City rushed to the spot to defuse the tension but the negotiations failed. On the other hand, the MS submitted an application to the Civil Lines Police for registration of case against the YDA officials for threatening him and destroying hospital’s property.Young Doctors Association (YDA) Gujranwala President Kashif Bilal while talking to The Nation said that they were striving for the fulfilment of their demands, adding that the authorities concerned were using delaying tactics to disrupt their movement. He claimed that the authorities were neither renewing their contracts nor giving salaries to the YDA officials in time. He warned to stage a massive protest here in Gujranwala and vowed to ensure participation of YDA activists from across Punjab if their demands were not met. Talking about the plight of patients, the YDA leader said that if the govt really care about the plight of patients they should fulfil their demands otherwise a complete strike would be observed.
