C&W secy examines renovation work on Judicial Academy



PESHAWAR - Communication & Works Department, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, Secretary Engr Zahid Arif paid a surprise visit to the under-construction building of Judicial Academy in Peshawar and inspected the ongoing work of its rehabilitation and renovation.
Deputy Secretary Technical Shakir Habib, SDO Monitoring Asghar Yousafzai, Director PBMC Shamsuz Zaman and Deputy Director C&W Ghulam Yazdani accompanied him while the DG Court Constructions Hayat Ali Shah and Project Director Salim Khan (Session Judge) briefed him of the progress, work status and objectives of the Academy.
They said that completion of the existing project costing Rs 45 million of the rehabilitation and renovation of the old Session Court’s historical building established in 1906 would greatly facilitate the judiciary to start the training courses of judges in the Judicial Academy that was newly established under the unanimously passed provincial assembly act.
It would include training of the newly inducted judges, upgradation courses, investigation and prosecution courses of the judges and police officials for enabling them to dispose off cases quickly as well as the officers of the provincial assembly, Law, Excise & Taxation, Income Tax and other departments would be trained for legal drafting and related judicial matters. They however expressed satisfaction on pace of work carried out by the C&W Department.
Secretary C&W assured timely and quality completion of the project and issued on the spot directives to the C&W Staff and contractors in this regard. He cautioned that he would frequently pay surprise visits to the academy in future until its completion and would take cognisance of any lethargy on part of concerned officials so they must complete it and ensure opening of this academy well before its scheduled time.
He revealed that arrangements were also being made to shift this academy, presently spreading on 17-kanal, to a new vast and permanent location as the provincial government had okayed allotment of 150-kanal land in Regi Township wherein a grand new building of the Academy would be constructed that would also provide separate residential facilities to the staff and trainees of the Academy.
