ISLAMABAD - Air Chief Marshal Tahir Rafique Butt, Chief of Air Staff, called on the Prime Minister Muhammad Nawaz Sharif on Tuesday and discussed with him issues relating to professional matters and the ongoing operation in North Waziristan Agency.
According to a press release issued by Prime Minister’s media section, the prime minister commended the role played by Pakistan Air Force in defending the frontiers of Pakistan.
However, sources privy to the deliberations of the meeting informed The Nation that the prime minister said that North Waziristan Agency offensive was launched after careful deliberations and made it loud and clear that terrorist dens in the agency would be completely destroyed.
Sources further informed that PM said that NWA offensive has been launched with force and vigour and all terrorists camps would be eliminated. He said that the government had decided to launch the operation after deep and long discussions and taking into account its ramifications.
The PM lauded the immense sacrifices made by the armed forces in the Zarb-e-Azb operation and for the defence of the country. He said that the whole nation supports the armed forces in these testing times and prays for their success, the sources said. Premier Sharif said that all the foreign and local terrorists would be eliminated completely without any exception and no sanctuary would be spared by the armed forces of the country. The writ of government in the tribal areas would be established at all costs, he added.
Sources said that Premier Sharif has directed for preparing an elaborate development plan of tribal areas with special focus on the Waziristan Agency after the completion of the ongoing military operation in the restive areas. The prime minister wanted to see the tribal areas’ development at par with the developed areas of country, the sources added.
