In a major move to honour his commitment and pacify the nationalist parties in Balochistan, PML-N President and Prime Minister designate announced the nomination of Dr Abdul Malik of National Party and that the next Governor will be a nominee of Pakhtunkhwa Milli Awami Party.
Addressing a press conference here Sunday after a high level meeting with PML-N, PkMAP and National Party leaders , Nawaz Sharif said a change would be brought in Balochistan through good governance and merit and heal the wounds of the people.
He said despite having majority in the Provincial Assembly, the PML-N gave sacrifice for setting good traditions and the posts of Chief Minister and Governor have been given to the coalition partners. He said there would be a government in Balochistan free from corrupt and pointed out that had there been democracy, there would have been no violence in the province.
He said his party had always voiced for bringing an end to violence and for peace and development and time has come to fulfill these commitments. He said peaceful environment is the first step for progress and prosperity.
To a question about the role of FC in Balochistan, Nawaz Sharif said elected government makes the policies and all other institutions are bound to implement the programme.
PkMAP Chief Mahmud Khan Achakzai said Punjab has shown broad heartedness and as a result they were standing together today. He said today Punjab’s attitude is democratic, it has agenda of democratic Pakistan, to fight against terrorism and corruption and Pashtun and Baloch are with it today. If Punjab will take one step for friendship and reconciliation, Pashtoons and Baloch will respond by taking two steps. He said the decision would help in making a new Pakistan. He said Balochistan has many problems which could be overcome through joint efforts.
He said we want to take all the parties along and only through this approach, lasting peace would be possible in Balochistan and Karachi. He said it is the beauty of democracy that all the parties are standing together.
Achakzai thanked Mian Nawaz Sharif on behalf of Baloch and Pashtun leadership for the gesture and said they would stand with him and Pakistan in the time to come.
Mir Hasil Bizenjo of National Party appreciated the nomination of Dr Abdul Malik for the post of Chief Minister. He said Nawaz Sharif honoured his commitment to take along the leadership of small communities and this could have been done by Punjab leadership and Nawaz Sharif.
He said they would not allow the repetition of things that had happened in the last ten years. He said it is our commitment to Nawaz Sharif that we would not allow any one to indulge in corrupt practices in Balochistan. That will strengthen democracy and Pakistan and the resources would be utilized for the wellbeing of people of Balochistan and Pakistan.
PML-N Provincial President Sanaullah Zehri, who himself was an aspirant for the job said they would extend full cooperation to the Chief Minister. From day one, we will extend cooperation to check violence and end corruption. He said unless we over come the problems of law and order and corruption, we will not be able to achieve Mian Nawaz Sharoif’s vision of new Pakistan.
