RAWALPINDI - Police found a mother and her two little daughters dead in their house here at Gulshan-e-Shaafi Colony on Sunday.
Police said that girls were killed by shooting into their heads with a 30-bore pistol, while their mother was found hanging with a ceiling fan. The deceased were later identified as Samreen, 30, wife of Pervaiz Iqbal, Mehmooda Pervaiz, 9, and Nida, 5.
Police took Pervaiz Iqbal into custody, besides seizing the weapon that was used in the crime, while Rescue 1122 shifted the dead bodies to District Headquarters (DHQ) Hospital for autopsy.
ASP Haroon, while talking to The Nation, said that area people informed police about the incident. He said that the both small girls were shot dead while their mother was found hanging with a ceiling fan in her house. "The drastic incident took place at 04:00am in the morning. Police are still clueless as to who committed this crime," the ASP said, adding that police held the husband of the deceased lady who runs a mobile shop. Soon the mystery of blind murders would be resolved, the ASP vowed.
Responding to a question, the ASP said no neighbour heard the sound of gunshots as the incident occurred at 4:00am when the people were sleeping.
Asghar Goraya, station house officer police station Civil Line, when contacted, said that police had recovered a 30-bore pistol with a bullet stuck into barrel from the crime scene. He said that either the mother shot into heads of her daughters and hanged herself when the bullet stuck into the barrel or some killer gunned down the girls and then hanged Samreen after the pistol left working.
"Both girls received one bullet injury in their heads and died on the spot," he added. He said that Pervaiz Iqbal, the husband of lady, told police that he was not present in her home and was staying at her sister's home. He found her family dead when he came home in the morning.
MAN DROWNS IN RAWAL DAM; THREE RESCUED
A young man drowned into Rawal Dam while rescuers saved three others on Sunday.
The deceased was identified as Muhammad Irfan, 21. According to police, Irfan along with his three friends went to Rawal Dam for swimming despite the fact that swimming is prohibited there. Sadly, all of the four went to deep water and drowned. The rescuers saved three men while Muhammad Irfan downed, said police. Police shifted the dead body to Polyclinic where post mortem was under way till filing of this report.
Meanwhile, police claimed arresting 153 people during the last month (May 2014) for their alleged involvement in drug peddling activities and possessing illegal weapons. Police recovered a total of 9.695 kilograms hashish, 1.428 kilograms heroin, 1,009 bottles of wine, three Kalashnikovs, five rifles, 64 pistols, one dagger and 1647 rounds from them.
During the same period, Islamabad police also arrested 80 absconders including 53 proclaimed offenders and 27 court absconders.
