PESHAWAR - The crime rate has mounted in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa during the last four months, as more than 624 persons have been killed in different incidents of crimes while 279 others have been killed and 502 got injured in terrorism related incidents.
According to official data available with TheNation, 130 persons were killed in Peshawar; 68 persons were killed in Mardan, 58 persons were killed in Charsadda and 47 persons were killed in Swabi. Similarly 66 people including six children were kidnapped among whom 31 persons belonged to Peshawar and 21 belonged to Mansehra while the rest of 17 persons were kidnapped from other districts of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa.
Likewise, 143 persons were abducted over personal enmity and terrorism related incidents. During the last four months, 31 incidents were reported of sexual harassment, out of which six incidents were reported in Dera Islamil Khan and five in Abbottabad.
Similarly, 14 incidents of dacoit and 43 incidents of robbery were reported in the last four months. Six major incidents of dacoity were reported in Peshawar city while 14 incidents of robbery were also reported in Peshawar. More than 33 incidents of force robbery were also reported in the city while 221 incident of house theft were recorded across Khyber Pakhtunkhwa in which 52 incidents occurred in Peshawar.
Moreover, 62 vehicles and 48 motorbikes were lifted while 23 vehicles and 21 motorbikes were snatched forcibly by armed persons. The incidents of target killing and other street crimes are available as per the official data while some of the incidents have not been registered with police stations which could further increase the number of crime incidents.
The rate of terrorism related incidents also increased in Peshawar along with crime rate as 15 suicide and 134 bomb blasts have been reported in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa and Fata. In these incidents, 279 people were killed and 502 were injured.
A total of 29 schools were destroyed in the last four months, which include 11 schools for girls and 17 for boys. The destroyed schools include five government high schools, five middle and 18 primaries. Beside the schools two degree colleges were also which include one for boy and one for girls also destroyed in these incidents.
It is worth mentioning here that drone attacks in Waziristan have not been included in these incidents while the killed persons of Salala check post in the US helicopter shelling have also been excluded from this report.
Meanwhile, Chairman Pakistan Movement Syed Zahoor Hussain Shah Tuesday asked the Prime Minister Syed Yousuf Raza Gilani to respect the Supreme Court verdict and step down.
“Zahoor H Shah warned to go on hunger strike in protest, by the mid of this month, if the parliamentarians failed to remove the convicted prime minister Gilani of his office,” he said in a meeting of the party. He expressed grave concern over the behavior of the premier Gilani and PPP for “putting the country on stake for their personal gains.” He also termed the PPP-led government for the existing worsening law and order and political turmoil like situation in the country.
S Zahoor also expressed solidarity with the labourers on the eve of the International Labour Day, and vowed that if his party was came into power, they will address all the problems of the laborers and provide them their basic rights.
