MIRPUR (AJK)-An all parties’ conference on Kashmir has rebuffed the election drama in Indian Held Jammu Kashmir, a disputed territory, describing it the violation of United Nations’ resolutions.
All the political parties in AJK including All Parties Hurriyat Conference representatives attended the meeting called by AJK Prime Minister Abdul Mujeed. It lasted till the Wednesday evening. The political leadership unanimously agreed to convene Kashmir conferences on regular basis after every three months.
In the joint declaration, it was declared that a Kashmir Working Group will be constituted to bring to light the Kashmir issue and to devise strategies accordingly. The conference paid homage to the martyrs of Kashmir. “The conference expresses solidarity with the people of Indian occupied Jammu Kashmir and salutes them for their heroic struggle and unprecedented sacrifices which they have rendered for their just cause of self-determination recognised and guaranteed by UN resolutions and United Nations charter,” it said
It also spoke well of the Kashmiri pro-freedom leadership for their commendable role to highlight the issue globally. The conference went into raptures over the determination of the people of Indian Held Jammu & Kashmir to boycott the farcical polls despite the fact they were forced to participate in the elections by military and paramilitary forces deployed in IHK. The conference lauded the efforts of those who not only boycotted the elections but also kept on campaigning against it in the masses.
The conference also maintained that the Kashmiris could no longer be kept under the brutal rule. It termed the boycott of so-called elections by the people of the state an eye opener for pro-Indian string-puppet leaders. It phrased the act an unambiguous message for the global community that the Kashmiris could not be denied of their fundamental right.
“This boycott is a loud and clear message across the world that people of Jammu Kashmir cannot be deceived by such military exercises in the name of election anymore. It is also an eye opener for the occupying power and its stooges in Jammu Kashmir,” it stated. It laid emphasis on international community to stop India of its worst kind of state terrorism, human rights violation and inhuman acts to guard the lives and property of the people of the state.
“The conference appeals to the world powers, the UN, EU, OIC and human rights organisations to take practical steps to protect life, honour and property of the inhabitants of Jammu Kashmir being violated under the draconian emergency laws. The conference calls upon international community to adopt a pro-active approach to resolve Kashmir issue according to the relevant resolutions and wishes and aspirations of the people of the state,” the declaration reads.
Talking about the bilateral talks between the two countries on Kashmir issue, the conference said that Indian state terrorism in Jammu Kashmir and peace talks cannot go side by side. Promoting business and friendship at the cost of sufferings of Kashmiri men, women and children is unacceptable. Normalisation of relations between the two countries and peace in south Asia in particular and world at large, cannot be achieved without a just solution of Kashmir issue on the basis of self-determination. Rejecting all the options and formulas within Indian constitution, the conference asserted that the only and Just solution to the Jammu Kashmir issue is to give the people the opportunity to exercise their right through free, fair and impartial plebiscite in accordance with the UN resolutions.
The conferences also lauded the unanimous resolution adopted by the government of Pakistan recently to support the Kashmiris’ right to self-determination and demanded a comprehensive Kashmir policy in consultation with the Kashmiri leaders to expose Indian tyranny on the diplomatic front. It also demanded the strengthening of the ongoing freedom struggle and including the Kashmiri leadership in the dialogue process.
The prime minister on the occasion said that India could never deprive Kashmiris of their basic right by such fake elections. He observed that Kashmiris were determined to achieve their goal of freedom at any cost. He also held that Kashmir remains the core issue. “India is trying to persuade through such elections that the Kashmir issue has been resolved and the Kashmiris are participating in democratic process under Indian constitution but the fact remains otherwise. India is violating the UN resolutions and BJP candidate for premiership Mr Modi has the worst track record about communal massacre in Gujrat against Muslims,” he said.
Leader of Opposition in AJ&K Assembly Raja Farooq Haider Khan said that Pakistan and Kashmiris share their interests and strong and stable Pakistan can only ensure the rights of Kashmiris.
All Jammu & Kashmir Muslim Conference President Sardar Ateeq Ahmad Khan believed that India was bluffing the international community through such acts of fake polls. Jammu Kashmir Libration Front head AmmanuLlah Khan should also be taken on board in future activities, he said. Former president Sardar Muhamad Anwar Khan said Kashmir issue must be resolved before any business ties with India. AJ&K Law Minister Syed Azhar Gellani briefed about the amendments in interim constitution 1974.
