KARACHI- Patron-in-Chief, Pakistan Peoples Party (PPP), Bilawal Bhutto Zardari today said PPP will not compromise on freedom of speech. PPP will stand shoulder to shoulder with media community whenever it is attacked, he said.
Giving his message on World Press Freedom Day, being observed under UNESCO on May 03, Bilawal said that PPP and the journalist community had always fought together against martial laws.
Freedom of Press is one of the key parts of our struggle to strengthen democracy and supremacy of the Constitution, Bilawal said.
He added his party is proud that late PPP leader Benazir Bhutto threw away the black laws in 1988, opening new opportunities for media expansion to ensure freedom of expression.
The PPP Patron-in-Chief said that his party had always vehemently condemned use of violence in the society. PPP has a record to launch massive movements for restoration of democracy without throwing a single stone, he concluded.
