PESHAWAR - The Khyber Pakhtunkhwa government will soon finalise a master plan for the development of Galiyat valleys in Abbottabad. To ensure the protection of environment in tourists’ resort experts from IUCN will also be engaged. The program will be executed before the fall of next tourists’ season in the area.
This was revealed in a meeting between the Chief Secretary Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Muhammad Shahzad Arbab and the representatives of International Union for Conservation of Nature (IUCN) in Islamabad Friday. Project Manager, National Impact Assessment Programme, Ahmad Saeed and Dr Rahman represented IUCN during the meeting. The chief secretary informed the delegation that the provincial government wanted to properly develop the area in a comprehensive manner under a master plan for which work is under process. 
He informed that under the scheme such a plan will also be developed for the picturesque areas like Kaghan and Narran in Mansehra later on.  He said at the moment they were preparing a master plan, which would be acted upon and completed before the next tourists’ season in the area. In this regard, the chief secretary informed that the provincial government wanted to involve IUCN so that the Plan was prepared, taken up and executed in accordance with the international standard of environmental conservation.
After detailed discussion, it was decided that IUCN would be in touch with the preparation of the master plan and might hire its own consultants of international repute so that environmental impact assessment of each and every aspect of the program/plan from its planning till completion was done and the scenic beauty of the valleys were protected. In this regard, IUCN will prepare and submit the TORs of its engagement to the Provincial Government next week.
It is worth mentioning that Khyber Pakhtunkhwa has always remained conscious about environmental conservation and as of tradition it has been conducting environmental impact assessment of its each and every development scheme. The Province had not only prepared Sarhad Provincial Conservation Strategy in early 1990’s but is also fallowing such standard since then.
PTI-led KPK govt not immature: CM
Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Chief Minister Pervez Khattak has said that the PTI-led government is the most powerful government in the history of province.
“It is neither weak nor immature and that there is no difference amongst the coalition parties of the government,” he said while chairing consultative meeting of the MPAs of coalition parties that was largely attended by the provincial ministers and MPAs of coalition parties. He said that all coalition parties are on the same page with regard to the reforms agenda and policies of the provincial government.
He said that all four coalition parties wholeheartedly peruse the agenda of change in health, education, local government and all other sectors of social services.
The CM said that he did not interfere in the internal affairs of any government department and the ministers had been given full powers of the administrative affairs of their respective departments.
He urged the ministers to admirably resolve all the problems of the masses relating to their respective departments at their own level. The chief minister also called upon the coalition MPAs to attend the sessions of assembly on regular basis and well in time with full preparation so that the issues faced by the public could effectively be raised at floor of the house and addressed accordingly.
On this occasion, the participants of the meeting lodged unanimously and severe complaint about the unscheduled and prolonged loadshedding of electricity and gas in the province.
The chief minister informed that the matter had already been taken up with the federal government and if the issue was not resolved properly then the provincial government would determine it future course of action.
