PM lifts ban on contractual appointments

ISLAMABAD - Besides making some high-profile decisions, Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif has allowed the government departments to hire contingent staff (on daily wages and with temporary status) as per genuine requirements.
In this connection, the heads of government departments were directed to strictly follow the rules and regulations and conduct the process in a transparent manner based on merit. The decision was made to further improve the day-to-day functioning of government departments and ensure service delivery to the citizens.
Moreover, the prime minister has given approval to the hiring of independent members of the Planning Commission of Pakistan. These are: Yahya Mehmood Khawaja as member ICT & IT), Malik Ahmad Khan as member (Infrastructure), Naeem-uz-Zafar as member (Social Sector), Faheem-ul-Islam as member (Private Sector Development) and Syed Tahir Hijazi as member (Governance).
The prime minister has also approved appointment of Shahid Ghaffar as managing director of National Investment Trust and Ms Tahira Raza as president of First Women Bank.
