ISLAMABAD - Islamabad police on Sunday booked former Deputy DG ISI Major General (Retd) Nusrat Naeem in a cheque bounce case.
According to sources, the case was registered against the retired Major General in Industrial area police station, following complaint of a resident of Islamabad Muhammad Ali.
Sources said, police officials including SHO and Investigation Officer of the relevant case did not know they were registering an FIR against a retired Deputy Director General of ISI.
“Yes, it is true that Industrial Area Police have lodged an FIR against ex-Deputy DG ISI Nusrat Naeem who gave a cheque of Rs 30 million to Muhammad Ali which bounced," an official on duty confirmed to TheNation on Sunday late at night. He, however, denied to give further details.
Following news of registering an FIR against a retired Major General, IG Islamabad suspended SHO of I-9 Police Station arguing why did he book a retired Major General without inquiring about the matter.
When contacted, a senior police officer of Islamabad capital territory police confirmed that the SHO has been suspended for ‘negligence’ from duty with the regard to the above-said case.
