SADIQABAD - National People's Party Senior Vice Chairman Mir Fazal Elahi demanded that the Election Commission of Pakistan should increase the number of National and Punjab assemblies' seats in congested areas like Sadiqabad.
He detailed that the population of the tesil of district Rahim Yar Khan consists of about 1 million people who have to face hardships for resolution to their problems. Justifying his demand, he said that the people's representatives who are elected from the tehsil live far off areas.
Therefore, to access to the MNAs and MPAs, the people have to bear huge travel expenses besides other problems in this regard.
He said that mainly because of continuous absence of the elected representatives from their respective constituencies, the problems of Sadiqbad were not being controlled. However, he added, the same politicians wanted to hoodwink the nation to be elected anew in the forthcoming general elections.
By fulfilling the constitutional requirements, he also demanded, the government should carry out census in the country before the general elections. He said that the people, for early resolution to their problems, were looking for a saviour who was nowhere in sight yet. He warned lest the dissatisfaction within the public should cause a big negative change in the national politics.
He said that the alliance of NPP and the PML-F was limited only to Sindh. He regretted that the recent rains played havoc in the Punjab but the provincial government had not provided relief to the farmers whereupon the community was feeling a sense of deprivation. In addition to the situation, he added, the wheat crop was also being affected.
