SIALKOT - At least one person was killed while four others were seriously injured in a gas cylinder explosion, which occurred in a mini hotel-cum-gas cylinder refilling shop at Model Town Uggoki, in outskirts of Sialkot city here on Monday.
However, a panic spread through the locals as a rumour of heavy bomb blast gripped the area. According to the Rescue 1122, the gas cylinder explosion was occurred due to leakage of the gas. Five people were injured seriously, out of which 23-year-old Abdul Ghafar succumbed to his injuries on the way to hospital. While, another injured Nafees was shifted to Mayo Hospital Lahore from Govt Allama Iqbal Memorial DHQ Civil Hospital Sialkot due to his critical condition. Two other injured persons were discharged from the hospital.
The window glasses of nearby shops were shattered while seven shops were badly damaged due to the explosion, the Rescue officials added. The police have started investigation.
