PESHAWAR - Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, Minister for Information, Mian Iftikhar Hussain has said that they are the harbingers of peace and want peace in their homeland, adding that they want an end to terrorist activities and bloodshed on their soil at all costs.
Talking to media persons on the occasion of delivering a cheque of Rs 2,00,000 to elderly journalist Iqbal Riaz at Peshawar Press Club Monday, he said they wanted resolution to all problems through peaceful means and the language of love, therefore if the terrorists openly announce and bring forward their negotiation teams, recognise the writ of the government and promise not to use our soil for terrorism, they would hold talks with them.
Otherwise, he warned that those not listening to the language of love and peace would be dealt with iron hand as action against them becomes unavoidable. Secretary Information Azmat Hanif Orakzai, Director Information, Shuaibuddin, President Peshawar Press Club Saiful Islam Saifi and President Khyber Union of Journalists Arshad Aziz Malik were also present on the occasion.
With reference to the killing of terrorist commander Tariq Kamran, Mian Iftikhar Hussain said it was good news for peace-loving people, adding that the terrorist network suffered serious blow due to it. He said he was to inaugurate five developmental schemes in his constituency PK-12 on Monday, but on the insistence of the people of his constituency, he had to postpone it. The minister appreciated the journalistic services of Iqbal Riaz and said that the cash amount was just a token of recognition of these services, which he rendered honestly and objectively, never allowing his personal feelings affect his journalistic duties.
Meanwhile, Senator Haji Muhammad Adeel has said that providing basic facilities of life to the masses of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa at their doorsteps is the priority of the present provincial government, for which the Awami National Party government is taking solid practical steps.
This he said while addressing a function held in connection with laying foundation stone of Hakim Abdul Jalil Nadvi Operation Theatre at Lady Reading Hospital, Peshawar, on Monday.
It is worth mentioning here that this project would be completed within estimated cost of Rs 30 million and efforts would be made to complete it as soon as possible. On this occasion, the officials of LRH were also present.
Haji Adeel said the LRH was a big hospital of the province wherein besides the local people most of the Afghans were being treated. He said it was their desire to provide all basic machinery, appliances and other facilities to all the big hospitals of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, so that the patients under treatment in these hospitals might not face any difficulty.
Haji Adeel also directed the administration of the hospital to pinpoint him the basic problems of the hospital so that practical steps for its early redressal could be ensured. He stressed upon the management of hospital to fully concentrate on the treatment of the poor patients and in this connection fulfill their responsibilities with honesty and dedication.
