KHYBER AGENCY - Unscheduled and prolonged loadshedding of electricity has multiplied miseries of residents of Landi Kotal. The residents urged the high-ups to take immediate notice of the matter and issue direction to resolve the matter on priority basis.
Expressing their regrets, the tribesmen of Landi kotal said with decrease in temperature, electricity to their area has also been completely suspended. The prolonged loadshedding has badly disturbed their routine business and also created scarcity of potable water in the area.
The government and Tesco intentionally deprive the tribal areas of electricity supply, which is condemnable, they remarked. They also criticised the rude behaviour of local political administration, which is not sincerely making efforts to resolve the issue being faced by the tribal people. "We are forced to fetch potable water from far-flung areas or buy it from private tankers for daily needs, however the political administration officials have turned blind eyes towards our problems," they lamented.
Jaffer Khan, resident of Kando khel said that load management has been formulated locally by disconnecting one section to keep other one on but ironically after 48 hours when the cut-sections are reconnected they can get only one hours power supply around-the-clock. When Landi Kotal Grid Station official was contacted on the matter, he said that the Regional Control Centre (RCC) is supply one-hour electricity after every three hours and they are strictly instructed to keep on only two feeders. "It is difficult to manage one-hour power in sixteen feeders," he remarked.
Wah Cantt reporter adds: Prolonged loadshedding have been adding to pubic woes. There has been no electricity in the most parts of the day and night, which continued till this Thursday evening.
Most affected areas are Taxila city,Faisal Shaheed Road, Purrie Mohallah, Taxila Cantt, Mueseum Road, HIT, HMC, Joulian, Margalla, Parrian, Thatha Khalil Road, Dohk Syyedan, Sadat Colony, Wahdat Colony, Jamilabad, Nwababad, Gulberg, Quaid Azam Street, Asifabad, Munirabad, Imaelaabad, Jinnah Colony, Lala Rukh, Lalazar, Ahmed Nagar, Wah Garden, Garrih Afghanan, Buddho, Gudwal, Askri Cement Factory and Shahwali Colony.
The consumers have no way out to get rid of this situation. Most hit are the women, children, patients and old people. The residents of the above-mentioned areas of Taxila and Wah Cantt said that the IESCO seemed to have no concern with masses problems.
The area residents demanded of the Federal and Provincial Governments and the IESCO high-ups to urgently take measures to restore the electricity supply with out load-shedding to the affected areas. People warned that they would hold protest if their demand was not met.
