IHC directs PTV to regularise 34 staffers

A Division Bench (DB) of Islamabad High Court (IHC) on Tuesday directed the Pakistan Television (PTV) administration to regularize its 34 employees in the light of court's directions.
The DB comprising Justice Riaz Ahmad Khan and Justice Noor-ul-Haq N. Qureshi issued these directions while hearing a contempt of court petition moved by PTV employees and deferred the hearing till Thursday. During the hearing of the case, PTV Director Admin Asadullah and Controller Maqbool Shah were also present while Sheikh Riaz-ul-Haq advocate appeared before the DB on the behalf of PTV employees.
The counsel for PTV employees informed the court that PTV administration using delaying tactics while regularizing these employees for past couple of years.
After hearing his arguments, the DB issued afore-mentioned directions to PTV administration for execution of court orders in this connection and adjourned the matter till Thursday.
It is pertinent to mention here that PTV recruited producers and assistant producers on some 40 vacant posts in 2006 but they were not regularized like the other employees were regularized in other departments.–Staff Reporter
